The Story Behind Golfies
G’day! We’re Paul and Tim – best mates since high school and the founders of Golfies. With over 40 years of combined business experience between us, we’ve created something that brings together everything we love: golf, mateship, unforgettable experiences, and a healthy dose of competition.
Our Journey
We joined a golf club together back in 2020, and our friendship – along with our passion for the game – has only grown stronger since. Our handicaps? Well, let’s just say they’ve plateaued a bit, but that’s never stopped us from trying.
Golf is one of those sports where you’re always chasing improvement. Whether it’s lowering your handicap or just trying to outplay your mate, there’s always something to strive for. Sure, it can be frustrating at times, but that drive to get better – and the friendly rivalry – is what keeps us coming back round after round.
More Than Just a Game
For us, the magic of golf extends far beyond the scorecard. It's about:
- Getting outside for a few hours in the fresh air
- Walking the fairways with good mates
- Catching up on life between shots
- Sharing a few well-earned beers after the round
And while golf is typically an individual sport, nothing beats the energy and excitement of team events. Playing together in match play tournaments has given us some of our most unforgettable golfing memories – the high-fives, the banter, the “we’ve got this” moments when you’re one down with two to play.
The Birth of Golfies
These experiences inspired us to create *Golfies* – a two-person Ambrose match play tournament designed to capture that special spirit of fun, competition, and camaraderie.
Why Ambrose? It’s the perfect format: fun and forgiving, yet strategic – especially with our 8 tee shot rule per player. Trust us, it keeps things interesting!
Golf Adventures
As dedicated golf enthusiasts, we’ve spent countless days on golf trips around the world. Our favorite destination so far? Thailand – with its amazing courses, brilliant caddies, incredible food, and (occasional monsoons aside) great weather.
